I decided to start with one of the lower wing sections first- in contrast to the instruction booklet's suggestion to start with the upper wing first. I did this because I felt that the lower wing sections were slightly easier to construct, and I could hone my skills on building the wing ribs, before building the much more visible ribs for the top wing. Thus any mistakes would not be seen too easily- fortunately there were none.
As it turned out, construction of the ribs was quite straightforward if time consuming. The only tricky part was filing out the wooden ribs to take the main and forward wing spars. This took about 20 minutes extra work per rib, just to file them out to the correct section. I bought a new file especially for the task.
When building the wing structure it is vital to spend time identifying the correct sizes of wooden strip, which will form the spars, so as to avoid any mistakes.
The wing tips were built by soaking the 5x1mm section strip in water and then bending them to the required shape around a suitable section- I used a paint tin. The 2 pieces are then glued together using white(wood) glue to form a laminate, which is then glued onto the end of the wing spars.
No problems were encountered in fitting the metal casting parts.
All parts were glued using superglue- apart from the wing tip laminates as previously described.
